Protector

Background: Probes have found an alien species who now are headed for Earth for an all out war.  You however are the only ship that can be spared to protect a human colony on Haven 7.  This is a fast paced action shooting game which is modeled off classic Defender.  You must destroy the enemy ships while trying to save the human colonists on the planet.  Added to the game play are power ups and money which allow you to buy things such as shields, rapid fire, and extra ships between levels.Game Play: This has taken classic Defender and built upon it in a successful fashion.  The new power-ups really enhance game play by allowing you to build up your ship and boost your chances of success.  This game is very challenging and you learn early to never stop firing.   It has really nice graphics.  I especially like the backgrounds and explosions.  It is fast paced and action packed with multiple ships appearing on the screen and human colonists being kidnapped all at once.   The control over the ship is just as tight as can be.  Songbird really has done a fine job with this game and I strongly recommend that you order this if you have not done so.  Protector has the mark of a good game, which is after playing a seemingly short time,  you look up at the clock and realize that an hour has just passed.

Pros: graphics, fast action, controls
Cons: Its hard!

PreviewThis game looks promising and probably could be described as a Defender Plus.  This 2d shooter has plenty of power ups and nice graphics.  Those who have played this at Jag Fest have given excellent reviews.  Done by Songbird, this game will be available in early December.  Looks to be a keeper and I can not wait!
