ARCHON: By far my favorite 8 bit Atari Game. You play on a chess board against the computer or a fellow player. You may be either the light or dark side and the goal is to defeat your opponent in one of two ways. (1) you can defeat every one of his minions in battle or (2) you can take all of the power points on the screen. Just like a chess game you move your players from one space to another. If you land on a space where an enemy resides, the battle screen appears and you must defeat that enemy. In this way, the game has both strategy and action. Again like a chess game, each minion has special and unique abilities. For example, there are the ultra fast unicorns, the slow but strong golems, the shape shifter, knights, and the strongest wizard and sorceress. This game Rocks! I have not found an 8 bit game that equals it in its balance between strategy and action.
FROGGER:
A good version of this classic arcade game. The graphics are much improved over the 2600 version. Although the sound is good, I kind of miss the repetitive song played in the 2600 version. Overall a very good and challenging game.
